Watching the Sea

.

I have sat for hours,

And could sit for hours more,

Watching the sea;

Marvelling at its many moods

From a calm, gelatinous mass

To a raging, furious, crass

But fascinating, captivating

Eccentricity;

Throwing itself against the rocks

Blocking its way, and the spray

Dispersing, diffusing across my view

Covering you and me

As we watched the sea.

The Wilderness

.

The call of the mountains

Echoing through the air,

The singing of the sea

Softly sighing eternally,

The morning chorus of birdsong,

The bullfrogs’ croak at night,

Thank you Heavenly Father

For all you’ve given me,

My destiny… and my delight.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilderness
Wilderness or wildland is a natural environment on Earth that has not been significantly modified by civilized human activity. It may also be defined as: “The most intact, undisturbed wild natural areas left on our planet—those last truly wild places that humans do not control and have not developed with roads, pipelines or other industrial infrastructure.”

What is Beauty?

.

Everything can be reduced

To a maths equivalent,

A chemical blueprint,

But beauty is lost along the way.

Give me, if you may,

A formula for splendour,

For magnificence,

A delight to the eye and

Sustenance for the soul.

.

An impossible task, I say,

To encapsulate beauty,

Put it behind bars or

Chain it and hold it captive

For our admiration and approbation,

Because it is a living thing,

From day to day unfurled,

Living on love, shrivelling with hate,

God’s gift to our world.

Life, Death and Honeymoons

.

Thirteen days to go

But already tiny leaves appear

Barely visible to our naked eye

Stating ‘Spring is almost here’.

Life springs from dead stalks,

Only one of His miracles each year,

But some of us are blinded

By false ideas of wealth

And life counts for naught

Compared to untold things on earth.

Clouds

.

They sail on high and fill the sky

With shapes asunder, large and small,

Harbingers of rain, or thunder,

Giving relief to the thirsty earth.

.

They move without a single sound

As shadows creep across the ground,

Separating, pooling, as the wind blows,

Journeying as far and wide as the sky goes.

God’s Window

.

Looking through God’s window
At the earth below
Wide-eyed at the beauty
Lost to man’s neglected duty
Sorrow for the morrow
When we’ll have to beg and borrow
Food and drink and air to breathe

Nothing saved ~ we disobeyed
Destroyed our earthly paradise
Right before our very eyes
Care-less, thought-less, heed-less greed
And avarice beset our needs
Is it too late to turn the tide
We have nowhere else to run and hide…

Looking for God

.

God is everywhere and in everything,
In the valleys and vast plains,
In the warmth of the sun and in the rains,
As an artist leaves some of his soul in his creations
So has God in His innovations

And if we open our eyes and ears,
Everyone will see and hear;
His soul is a magnet drawing us closer
But oft times we struggle to deny His lure.
Without Him we are incomplete,

As hollow as an empty shell
While He is our Creator, Lord and Master
And our Loving Heavenly Father,
Our Shelter in the storms of life,
And in the darkness He’s our Brightest Light.
