Veld Fire

Post No. 808

.

Veld Fire

.

Skin crackling crisp

Blackened, peeling,

Exposing raw tissues

New life, new blood

Sanitized, purified

As the fynbos* renews

Year on year

And we watch

The regeneration

Following

The degradation

Full circle again

.

*Fynbos

Fynbos is the natural shrubland or heathland vegetation occurring in a small belt of the Western Cape of South Africa, mainly in winter rainfall coastal and mountainous areas with a Mediterranean climate. Wikipedia

Morning

Post No. 807

.

Morning

.

Drops of dew hang suspended

From flower petals and leafy trees,

From grassy blades appended,

Twinkle like diamonds,

Sparkle like stars

Amongst golden rays;

A simple garden,

A magical fairyland,

A place, a space on earth

For imagination’s birth…

Darkness before the Light

Darkness and Light

.

Darkness before the Light

.

Dark clouds obscure the light

Brightest day becomes the blackest night

While we live in this world of dreams

Everything is not what it seems

Way, way beyond the clouds above

The sky is bright with the light of Love

And when we reach that golden land

Then I think we will understand

The meaning of this life on earth

And the reason for our earthly birth

Birth of Day

 .

the old cane rocking chair

creaked back and forth

back and forth

on the farmhouse stoep*

the figure hunched

against the cold night air

held her warm gown close

across her bony chest

as she watched the sky

lighten almost imperceptibly

with the pale rose of the sun

birthing a new day

wondering

what it would bring

 .

Silent Night

Starry Night Sky Pictures, Images and Photos

Silent Night

Night dropped down
Gently from the sky,
Covering the town
In a blanket of darkness.

All was still,
Peaceful and quiet,
Then the sound rang out
Of a newborn’s cry.

Softly quietened,
Comforted to sleep,
Till the sky lightened
With the dawn of day.

The Baby, born to set us free,
Who would have thought
That He could be
The centre of such controversy.

A new commandment I bring unto you,
that you love one another as I have loved you,
that you love one another as I have loved you.
By this shall all men know that you are My disciples,
if you love one another as I have loved you.
By this shall all men know that you are My disciples,
if you love one another as I have loved you.
