Man, the Destroyer

Raw sewage and industrial waste flows across international borders New River passes from Mexicali to Calexico, California

Man, the Destroyer

Is it too much to ask
That our water be clean,
Uncontaminated
By sewage
Leaking into our dams?
Is it too much to ask
That our leaders appoint
Competent, knowledgeable people
To manage our cities,
Towns, townships
And rural communities
So that they have access
To clean, potable water.
Is it too much to ask
That such appointees
Put self-interest aside
To serve the people
And perform their tasks
To the best of their ability.
Is it too much to ask
That people not performing
Up to standard
Are given notice to quit
Not handshakes of gold
For non-performance.
If things continue
The way they are,
With rewards for nothing,
Our beautiful Rainbow Nation
Will wither and die,
Imploding on itself
Left to vultures and maggots
To clean the cesspool
Caused by mismanagement.

Water pollution
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans, groundwater).
Water pollution affects plants and organisms living in these bodies of water; and, in almost all cases the effect is damaging either to individual species and populations, but also to the natural biological communities.
Water pollution occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.
