I write what I feel…

Post No. 891

To those who fly on gossamer wings,

To those whose hearts continue to sing

Despite their tears,

Despite their fears,

Despite their lonely path through dark,

They will one day be able

To soar higher than an eagle,

With stronger eyes and matching wings

When they are become as hatchlings

In the Kingdom of Heaven

That Flying Feeling

Post No. 857

That Flying Feeling

About a thousand years ago

as a child running wild,

we used to ride our bikes

for miles and miles

through the countryside

and down to the ocean wide!

What freedom was this

that today’s children all miss,

no such thing as congestion

of traffic or lungs

(not to mention crime where now

life is worth less than a dime),

we would trudge up hill

and soar down dale

for all the world like an eagle on wings

swooping low and sweeping high

shouting for the wind to carry

our voices up to God in the sky,

oh to feel again the joy we felt,

the immensity of our world and

the freedom to have fun in the sun!

Post No. 848

Father raise me up,

Set me down on eagle’s wings

To soar on streams of air

High above the clouds,

Above the mountain peaks,

That I may see your glory

All laid out before me,

Witness to your majesty.

The rising of the sun

Lights the beauty of creation,

Designer of a universe

Too wonderful for words.

Eagles Hatching on Live Video Stream

Eagles Hatching on Live Video Stream

High above the ground
Feathers ruffled, nest shaking
In the wind
The eagle sat hatching her eggs
Chirps and tweets could be heard
Emanating from beneath her
The wind increased
The rain spattered her feathers
As dawn slowly lightened the sky
She sat hunched over
Her wing feathers puffed out
To afford more protection
From the weather
Suddenly a flash of black and white
Swirled around from left to right
And the male eagle landed
He bent over his mate
And fed her a titbit from his beak
Then, as she shuffled over to the side
He replaced her on the nest
Great excitement on my part
As they moved I had the tiniest glimpse
Of two snow white chicks and an unhatched egg

A Bird’s Eye View

Eagle Pictures, Images and Photos

A Bird’s Eye View

I saw an eagle
soaring on the currents of warm air
high above the arid plains
of parched earth
where the hot wind blows
and the tumbleweeds roll,
keen eyes sharply focused
searching for the smallest movement
the slightest sign or inkling
of a potential meal for the open beaks
waiting in the eyrie atop a krantz
in the distant blue mountains.

krantz, n. (S.-Afr.) precipitous or overhanging wall of rocks

Flight of Fancy

Flight of Fancy

Oh how I want to fly
On the wings of a butterfly!
To soar among the clouds
Like an eagle in the sky.

Oh how my spirit longs
For space to breathe the air,
Freedom to spread my wings
And strength to persevere.

To be at one with nature
And leave the world behind,
Forgetting the race to riches
With all its narrow confines.
