Reflections
.
Sunlight dances – shadows fall
Mirrored in still waters,
Echoed from deep caverns;
Lanterns form patterns
Of darkness and light,
Sometimes in day and ofttimes at night;
Shapes and shades –
Music in the everglades –
Hear the cowbells ring,
Listen to the flowers sing,
Eyes and ears record the signs
Of His presence in these troubled times.

The Past
The past keeps pace with the present
A moving shadow walking in our shoes
Echoing who we were
Molding us into who we are
Tap, tap, tap in stiletto heels
Clomp, clomp, clomp in brogues
There’s no escaping history
Just how is a mystery, but
The past lies waiting at the gate

The Kite
He flew higher and higher
until the cord snapped,
the sun died
and the sky bled.
On and on around the curve of the earth,
across the face of the moon.
Sharp eyes cut the darkness,
lit up the skies as he searched
and his mate waited and watched.

Bees, Bugs and Butterflies
.
As I watch the sun
Breaking through the clouds,
As I smell the rain
Soaking in the soil,
Dripping from the flowers,
The birds burst into song.
Let the naysayers be wrong;
The world is alive again,
Saved from the brink,
And no matter what we think
God is in His heaven.
Bees buzz,
Shiny beetles eat rose petals
And butterflies flutter by…

As I watched
The line ran
Glistening silver
Towards the edge
Hesitated, elongated
Then drooped over
Poised to fall…

Water gives life
And with it, we thrive
Cleansing, drinking
Its forms are many
Almost unending…
Rivers, lakes, seas
Even the tears we weep
As promises we make
And vows we keep
Or fail in our humanity
Whilst perfection we seek

.
Rays of sunshine reach down below
And the foliage beneath ever upward grows
Wisps of white float on high
Cotton wool clouds feather the sky
Cool the heat where shadows fall
Sip up moisture for rain to pour

O Lord, our Father
Only You can change this earth
From negative to positive
Let us construct not destruct
Advance not retreat
Back and forth and round about
You are our axis
Nothing stands still
This world whirls around your wlll
Open our eyes to realise
We are nothing without You
You are the sun, the moon, the stars
You are creation, and all is in motion
To bring us back to You

.
Past, present, future
Shades of lilac and blue
Been and gone
Over and done
History;
The here and now
Unfolding like the wings of the wind
Feathers flying in the breeze
And nature breathes;
Then the mystery of the morrow
(Joy or sorrow) lies before
but God is all we know for sure
