I write what I feel…

Post No. 812

Is insanity contagious

When behaviour is outrageous

Humanity has exited

And adrenalin is now

The drug of choice

Freely available

To all who are unable

To contain their hu- (a-)nger

Addicts all who need

Gratification in an instant

Satisfaction in the moment

Boasting bloodlust

Cruelty and destruction

Of animal existence

And when that is not sufficient

Turning on their own

Driven higher and higher

Until they im- or ex-plode

While dancing on the edge of death

Give me instead

The wild countryside

Sweet-smelling grasses

Unsullied waters

Peace and tranquillity

Kindness and harmony

The way to truly survive

This rat-race called life

Black & White

Blinds (pun intended)

(pun intended)

This was written just after Turning the Tide.

Black & White

Black and white
Shadows and light
The colours of night
Contrasting shades
Opposing views
Conflicting ideas
Divergent beliefs
But if you consider

They are us
And we are they
All mixed up
In many ways
Even piano keys
Need each other
Can we not learn
To live together

There’s a black moon

Sailing in the sky tonight

Foretelling warnings,

Desolate mo(u)rnings,

As its shadow passes over the land,

Our fatherland, motherland,

Our homeland,

Consuming joy,

Exuding sorrow,

Suffering tomorrow.

Father, bless our land,

Present and future generations,

Bless our Rainbow Nation,

With unity,

With harmony.

Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the Beatles and others

I knew nothing of my sisters and brothers

Being a music lover in the past

There was a gap in my education

And I skipped a complete generation

I was living like an outcast in the desert

Without a melody, without a harmony

I became a complete introvert

Missing the compositions of the others

Spending my life submerged in another’s

There was only one goal for me

To live my marriage in harmony

I kowtowed to the man of the house

Like other members of my generation

Not realising the extent of my deprivation

A Haiku for my Land

A Haiku for my Land

My wonderful land
With all its different people
Our Rainbow Nation

All living in peace
Together in harmony
United as one

Our love for our land
And our trust in our leaders
Binds us together

Our leaders must learn
That they need to earn
Love and respect by proving
Ethics and morality
Openness and honesty
In all their dealings
