Escaping the Abyss

Post No. 904

.

Escaping the Abyss

,

A bottomless pit

Is where I’m at

A deep well leading down to hell

I claw feverishly at the wall

And cry for help with a soundless voice

Bounded by silence

Black as pitch, absorbent hush

Rain runs barefoot down my neck

Soothing all pain along my back

I feel fingers reach down my arm

Leading me, guiding me

Upward, onward, safely

Far, far away from harm

.

Self-Destruction

.

She refused to mellow with age,

Filling herself with spite and rage,

Living on the edge of insanity

Uncontrollable profanity,

Psychosis, neurosis.

Hatred tipped the scale,

Took her *beyond the pale,

Her actions were intolerable,

Her conduct inexcusable

And this impropriety caused

Her rejection by society.

~~~
Do not let this happen to you or to anyone you know.
If you ever feel out of control, please do not hesitate to ask for help.
That’s what doctors are here for.
Street Children
Street Children
God help the children
In the harsh cold of winter,
Bones showing through bare threads,
Bloodshot eyes, puffed and red,
Paint, glue, meths, God knows what else,
Cheapest way to face a world
Of days dimmed to gloom,
Tranquilised, anaesthetised,
Homeless… helpless…
Huddled around a fire, shivering,
Tongues of flame sputtering
In the icy wind.
