Sorry, no time – no rhyme. But a golden oldie for today… enjoy!
Some Enchanted Evening
Emile:
Some enchanted evening
You may see a stranger,
you may see a stranger
Across a crowded room
And somehow you know,
You know even then
That somewhere you’ll see her
Again and again.
Some enchanted evening
Someone may be laughin’,
You may hear her laughin’
Across a crowded room
And night after night,
As strange as it seems
The sound of her laughter
Will sing in your dreams.
Who can explain it?
Who can tell you why?
Fools give you reasons,
Wise men never try.
Some enchanted evening
When you find your true love,
When you feel her call you
Across a crowded room,
Then fly to her side,
And make her your own
Or all through your life you
May dream all alone.
Once you have found her,
Never let her go.
Once you have found her,
Never let her go!
When I was young and innocent
I met a guy who seemed to be
The answer to my dreams,
And now I’m wondering
“Was he the one?”
Looking back it seems to me
All was not as it appeared to be
And I know the truth eluded me
Because I did not want to see
That he was not the one for me.
The years went by and he was gone
And, despite my knowing
He was not the one,
I mourned his passing
Like that of a friend
Whom I loved and pitied in the end.
Now in the dark of night
Alone with the stars and moon
I lift up my face and blow him a kiss
On the breeze, for what was
A dream that we shared
Which failed to thrive in my barren heart.
We fit together
Like a knife and fork,
Bacon and eggs,
Salt and pepper.
You and I are akin:
Two sides of a coin,
Two halves of a whole,
A fruit with its skin.
We think the same thoughts,
Dream the same dreams
And, strange as it seems,
Destiny has never
Brought us together.
Have you ever felt
The instant attraction,
The heart racing
Electrical charge,
When your hands brushed?
When your eyes met?
The feeling of déjà vu…
As if you recognised each other
From another world,
Another life?
To know without knowing?
To feel without feeling?
To speak without speaking?
A heart-stopping moment in the universe!
