.

The wind rips the leaves to blanket the lawn

While we mourn the passing of summer;

Autumn air, still warm, brushes our skin

In this land of harsh contradictions

Where colours vie for recognition

And winter stands poised on the edge of the precipice,

Hesitant to leap into the abyss.

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx
