A flying car — it’s an iconic image of the future. But after 100 years of flight and automotive engineering, no one has really cracked the problem. Pilot Anna Mracek Dietrich and her team flipped the question, asking: Why not build a plane that you can drive?

Of course Denise, you have appealed to the engineer in me.
I think this is an exciting video.
Thank you for showing it.

Yip, if memory serves me he wore a power pack on his back. This is a more ‘refined’ way to do it, Bb, far more comfy and then there is the parking in your garage and also on the way you can stop off for groceries at your local store. What more could you ask for? 😆

I actually enjoyed that video, Denise, and, being honest, I wasn’t expecting to! It reminded me of those early black and white newsreel films from the days of early aircraft, only considerably more advanced… whether people will start to buy them remains to be seen, but it’s a good idea.

Of course, it will only be the wealthy to begin with, Tom. And nothing has been said about fuel and emissions yet.

Amazing. Whenever I enter an aircraft, I shall always think of the Right Brothers who made possible imagination take wings. This is an extension of it.Afterall, ther are RIGHT BROTHERS.

I am still in awe when these huge monsters take off and you feel the wheels lose contact with terra firma! To me, that is one of the most magical feelings in the whole world.

Denise, when I was a little girl, I watched a cartoon called “The Jetsons.” I still don’t understand why we don’t have their mode of transport. It was so awesome. Thanks for giving us something to think about today.

I googled it and found it was the misadventures of a futuristic family who had a bubble car that could fly. Maybe that’s where the idea came from… I wonder if there are plans yet for a production line, Andra. I need to google a bit more, lol!

We need to get rid of all superfluous plane/car, and have just enough to surround our own body plus a little storage in front. I think those wings are too long as well. How often do we see people bumping into each other – not often – and it should be less often 20,000 feet up in the air, hopefully!

OMG Now gridlock in the sky and highways. Few people in Miami know how to drive on the ground let alone the sky. Added pollution too. I enjoy seeing these tech advances but when will such talent, money and energy be avenued to solve the problems of tens of millions of starving people?

I hope we will always have dreamers, Carl, but I can foresee they won’t be available in some countries, mine included, because the authorities can’t administer car licensing properly!
