I write what I feel…

Dream Catcher

Disappearing like quick-silver

Just out of reach

Sleeping, waking, always escaping

As quick as a wink, before you can blink

Fluid, flowing into the ether

Nothing to hold, were I so bold as to try

Just an impression, an inkling, a notion

But oh for a potion to clasp it, to grasp it

Before it dissolves in the mists of time

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  1. This is very well executed, in my humble opinion.

  2. I love it… and who gave you one star should be shot…

    • Thanks, Bulldog. I still haven’t worked out their star system. I think people give stars, but the count is for the number of people and not the number of stars! In any case it is very confusticating.

  3. Brilliant as usual, adee! 5 stars!

  4. Super. Just one suggestion: first line, ‘A dream’ to match the singular which follows.

  5. Lovely allusion and clever word choices make this a superb piece. Well done.

  6. Your poem captures 🙂 the elusive essence of dreams so well, Adee.

  7. Perhaps though there is wisdom too in happily letting go.
