Sidey’s Weekend Theme: 19.08.2011 – Sunset

~~~
SUNSET
Darkness cloaks the earth
Silhouetted ‘gainst fire in the sky
Reaching, stretching way up high
Streaks of orange, red and yellow
Stunning pyrotechnic show
Colours pale and fade from sight
A monochrome scene
Drawn by moonlight
They don’t last – do they? supplanted by the monochrome of night
No they don’t last as long as we would like, Sidey.
A monochrome scene Drawn by moonlight… is a fine parting shot Denise. I liked this phrase.
And no continent does sunsets quite like Africa! I can smell the firewood burning in the boma and hear the hyenas calling with this poem, Adeeyoyo
Thanks so much John. This one’s a bit rough. I was in too much of a hurry today.
Thank you so much for those lovely words.
I do love to watch the evening sky and see the shadows changing places As it gets darker the colours and clouds become more definite, wonderful time to reflect!
This humble night owl must protest. The moon and stars are their own display, and only the night can highlight the fury of a thunderstorm. The fickle setting sun is oft can disappoint. Of course, I’m stuck in the Midwest.
I must admit there’s nothing quite like an electrical storm at night, Mike. With all the sound effects!
We can only do so much Kate, like fireworks’ displays, but nature does it best!
It’s a lovely poem, Adee, and so true, the lovely last colours and then, as you say, the monochrome.
