Sounds of Birds

The sounds of birds

fill the air everywhere,

CHattering, chITTering, TWITTering,

ScrEAMs, hOOts and kwAAKs.

Listen and hear,

bring to the fore(ground)

of your ear.

Hark hark the lark,

the HAdeDAs

and the little LAdeDAs,

background music

whilst we work.

    the blackbird sing
    I know it foretells
    the coming spring

    Thank you Denise.

    • That is lovely, John. I haven’t heard any Piet my Vrous here at all this last spring or now in summer. We heard only a few when we were in the Pilanesberg. Odd.

  4. From Google I find that “Peter-my-wife” is a cuckoo relative, Denise. I learn something every day!

  8. Those hadedas never let the suburban johannebsurger sleep in. Just like the kookaburras and currawongs here 😀 Love the onomatopoeic flavour of this poem.

    • Glad you liked it. It was an experiment and I got the idea from Brian (above)… I used to live on a farm where peacocks scrEAmed for help on and off every day! 😀

  10. Your Onomatopoeic representation of sounds is so good, Denise. It is the lubricant that has been provided to forget monotonous labor. When there is nothing around, you will hum a tune of your own.
