is love a fantasy
illusory
heart to heart
we stand
hand in hand
is it intoxication
where’s the authentication
i’m flying without a sound
and both feet on the ground

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

I’m flying without a sound, with both feet on the ground.
I love it.
Have you changed your e-mail address?
I sent you a couple of jokes but they bounced back.

Flying but keeping one’s feet on the ground is a bit over-cautious, isn’t it? You don’t get to any great heights that way! 🙂

No, love is very real, but is so wonderful that it sometimes does feel like a fantasy, Adee. Long live love!

I know that, in theory AD, and thought I experienced it once. But it turned into such a sham! I really need strength now to venture forward. 🙂

Fair questions all. But love is what we make it, and hardly ever what we expect

Being in love with all of it’s flights of fancy while feet are planted on the ground, it’s one of my favorite feelings.

It’s a roller coaster. But for me I never really came down. I’m still up there in the sky, and it’s been 20 years, a quarter of a lifetime…

You’re so lucky, Kate. That is just what I visualised my life would be like. You never know what the future holds though.

Reading this recalled another poem I read recently. I thought I’d share it here. You will see why, I’m sure. I’m not sure you know this poet?

Great ending – flying with your feet on the ground – a cautious approach is not a bad thing, especially if you don’t want history to repeat itself which it tends to do with relationships, I have found.
