Echoes of the Past
Yesterday…
Echoes through mists of time and space,
Sometimes tough to see its face,
Complex intricate forms display
In the presence of today.
Life and death are intertwined,
Silk and thorns are all designed
To influence, guide, hold sway
For hence we have evolved this way.

I think we only listen when it suits us, Sidey.

Thanks, Bulldog. I wrote the words and remembered this lovely fragile rose in the garden which I also thought would be a good match.

How perfectly your rose photo illustrates this poem, Denise. plenty of food for thought, too.

Thank you very much John. That rose bush is quite stunning and the roses are an absolute delight, especially considering they get almost no attention at all compared to the conventional roses.

to influence, guide…yes, they have a purpose in our life…both the good and bad…the thorns and the silk…smiles.

Pro and con
ebb and flow
flush and wan
yes and no
though yesterday’s gone
more things we know.
Got me thinking again this morning Denise, thanks

Brilliant poem, Denise. It’s all there: the way past echoes, the complexity of what we think of as now, life and death intertwined. “Silk and thorns,” that’s life. 😉

Ha, Ruth, thanks! I could sometimes do with more silk and fewer thorns…
